Emma Raducanu winds down with friends in London after French Open 2024 withdrawal
Britain’s Emma Raducanu is not missing out on having fun during her time away from court after pulling out of the French Open 2024, scheduled to take place from May 26 to June 9. She has been making use of her time off, ensuring that apart from practicing hard and getting herself back in shape, she also enjoys her heart out with her dear ones and indulges in delicious food.
“Saturyay post practice steak hit,” Raducanu wrote in the caption.
Emma Raducanu aims to get fit before grass season
Recently, Raducanu withdrew from the French Open after being denied a wildcard entry. The youngster entered the clay-court major using her protected ranking of No.103. However, she fell three places short of entering into the main draw.Thereafter, she opted out of the qualifying rounds. Raducanu won the US Open title as a teenager back in 2021 after beating Leylah Fernandez in the final. But since then, fitness and injuries have been a massive roadblock in her journey. The 21-year-old said she wanted to get back in shape before the grass and hard-court seasons later this year. In a statement, Raducanu said (as quoted by AP):
“It’s important for me to keep laying on the foundations and I will use the time to do a healthy block before the grass and subsequent hard-court seasons to give myself a chance to keep fit for the rest of the year.”
After her US Open heist at Flushing Meadows, Raducanu also entered the top 10, but she failed to hold on to his good form. Last year, Katie Boulter replaced Raducanu as the British No.1 after she advanced to the semifinal of the Surbiton Open last year.
Raducanu had made an impressive start to her campaign in the ongoing clay-court season. She helped guide Britain through to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, defeating France’s Diane Parry and Caroline Garcia.Back in April, Raducanu made her way through to the quarterfinals of the Stuttgart Open where she lost to World No.1, Iga Swiatek. Currently ranked No. 212 in the world, it remains to be seen how soon can she climb up the ranks again.
